Hazard Communication

The Texas State University (TXST) Hazard Communication Program applies to all employees working under the supervision of any TXST department. The purpose of the Hazard Communication Program is to inform employees of the hazards associated with chemicals and to ensure the safe use, handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals. Key elements of the program include: 

  • Supervisor responsibilities
  • Training requirements
  • Hazard identification
  • Chemical labeling
  • Safety Data Sheets (SDSs)
  • Chemical inventories (Workplace Chemical Lists)

Training

The Texas Hazard Communication Act requires training for all TXST employees who use or may be exposed to hazardous chemicals in the workplace. 

Hazard Communication training can be obtained through: 

  • SAP (Success Factors)
  • CANVAS
  • In Person Training - upon request
